"Schaefer Shiraz is the personification of Tim’s irascible, magnetic, and steadfast character, in vinous form. Inky, powerful and blessed with 12 months spent in new French oak, this is an extremely focussed and hugely opinionated wine with the most affordable price tags I have ever seen for a wine of this build-quality." "Deep and intense ruby-red colour throughout the glass. Dark berries, bitter chocolate and mint aromatics. Intense black fruits, tapenade and coffee notes show across the full-bodied palate. The tannins focus it where necessary and it lingers long into the finish. Still showing as a youthful wine so will have many years of life ahead of it. 93 points" The Real Review
A fabulous release from Tim Adams, the Schaefer Shiraz was crafted from specially selected grapes produced on a single vineyard originally planted in the 1960s. The dry grown grapes yield between one and two tonnes per acre, producing fruit with elegance and rich fruit flavours.
Twenty four months in new French oak provides perfume, spice and balance to the wine, which is dominated by aromas and flavours of dark red cherries, plums and red berries. Patient cellaring will be rewarded, with potential to improve for up to 20 years.
A very enjoyable wine with Sunday Lunch ,Pasta ,etc .Good to drink on its own to .Full Of flavour, smooth fruity blackberry, black cherry
Lovely depth rough edges have been removed by time.Good value & I will buy again
Very good wine but not realty worth £20 a bottle
Great service. Wine very good but could benefit from a little more ageing in the bottle.
Excellent example of what a good Shiraz should be. Bursting with dark fruits with a reasonably good length to it. Excellent with any roast meats. If you can get it!
