One taster, a Master of Wine, higlighted this wine as one of his favourite wines in the tasting:
"A great example of how to provide intensity without huge concentration. All the character comes from the vineyard, and then gently taken through the winery, to give a transparent, classy wine still full of flavour."
Red-purple in colour. The nose has scents of freshly crushed ripe blackberries, dark plums and liquorice followed by some vanillin oak and pepper. The full bodied palate boasts a juicy rich flavours: fresh blackberries and plums followed by some liquorice, vanillin oak and blackpepper. The finish is rich and full. Cellar through to 2025.
I have been drinking Water Wheel Shiraz for years. It is consistently good and excellent value.
One of the best Shiraz' from the Bendigo Region, This wine was first experienced whilst working in the town. Most other wineries in this area are more expensive for their Shiraz, but this is an excellent example of the region.
