"95 points. Deep crimson-purple; full-bodied, but not the least oppressive, letting all things McLaren Vale free to express themselves. Blackberry, black cherry and bitter chocolate are wrapped in a gauze veil of ripe tannins." James Halliday
The Lioness of McLaren Vale is produced from a single vineyard in the foothills of McLaren Vale.
The nose has impressive purity of fruit showing lush scents of summer pudding with lifted re fruits, berries and a hint of cinanamon. The palate is generous and mouthfilling with sweet blackberry, raspberry and plum flavours with uindercurrents of mulberries and chocolate.
Some years Mclaren Vale is the best wine region in Australia and other years it is not. In my view this very drinkable wine is not from a 5* year for McClaren Vale and so I would suggest that if you have not bought either their Barossa or McClaren Vale you try the 2017 Barossa version in the first place. None-the-less I guess that many would enjoy this wine so your choice.
