Robert Oatley Signature Grenache Shiraz & Mourvedre 2018
A blend of 40% Grenache, 33% Shiraz and 27% Mourvèdre from Southern McLaren Vale, where the hills run down to the ocean. Macerated red fruits and musk from Grenache, structure and longevity via Shiraz, Mouvèdre's gamey notes and minerality. Heritage Barossa Shiraz 2017
The wine has intense colour, showing loads of syrupy blackberry & spice on the nose. The palate is full-bodied, with toasty oak & sweet fruit in good harmony. Twelve months maturation in American oak barriques has added a subtle depth to the varietal characters. Already drinking beautifully, this wine will reward with further cellaring over the next decade.
Water Wheel Baringhup Shiraz 2018
"92 points. Opaque, but lighter on its feet than the Bendigo colour infers. Saturated, mouthfilling dark fruit persuasions; the tannins taut, coffee-grind and juicy, juggling the hedonic explosion of excess with aplomb. American oak working well here. The end product is delicious." James Halliday's Wine Companion
Willows Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
This is a great Barossa Cabernet. The Willow's Cabernet vines are planted near to the banks of the North Para River, dotted by gum trees, as it winds it way through the Scholz vineyards. So, it is no surprise to find eucalyptus aromas along with the more classic Cabernet characters on the nose with this wine. The French would call this "terroir", but Peter Scholz insists that this is how it's always been down in that part of the vineyard.
Haven`t opened one yet!
We have been enjoying the Super Reds for a couple of years now and are almost never disappointed with the wines we get. Only once was there one wine not to our taste and it was immediately refunded - fabulous service.
We can rely on Craig to select and advise on these wines and cannot recommend highly enough.
