The grapes for this wine come from Wombat Creek vineyard, the highest altitude vineyard in the Yarra Valley at 410 metres above sea level. This makes it an ideal location for the production of cool climate wines.
An energetic Chardonnay with fine aromas of lemon, grapefruit and nutty oak, with hints of marzipan and apple pie crust. The steely, linear palate has mouth-watering citrus characters, impressive balance and wonderful finesse on the finish.

Subtle hints of oak, rarely noted these days, however it is not overpowering. The Chardonnay fruit is rich and slightly buttery with good balanced acidity and oak. I will buy more to keep for a few years.

Giant Steps Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2018 13.5% 6x75cl
This is drinking beautifully, even now in its youth. No excess oak - fresh fruit with a little subtlety (custard?). A wine from a producer at the top of their game. We will certainly buy this again.
