"96 points. Medium straw in the glass with an über-fine bead and energetic mousse. Aromas of juicy white peach, green apple, pithy grapefruit and pear cut with hints of soft spice, grilled nuts, fresh brioche, dried honey, orange blossom and stone. There are some umami notes on the palate – a gentle ache is all, but its presence is felt nevertheless. Notes of sea spray, honeycomb and fresh pastries swell on the mid-palate and the finish is long and true with tight acidity, impressive tension and a wash of biscuity tones on the exit." (James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion)
Ed Carr has been the head winemaker at Arras since 1998. He was one of the first winemakers to see the potential Tasmanian fruit had for producing world class sparkling wine. James Halliday calls him “a quietly spoken genius, whose name should be known
around the world. He is, by some considerable distance, Australia’s greatest sparkling winemaker”
A wine of uncompromising quality enriched by the great complexity of character that follows seven years on tirage. Lifted nuances of desiccated pear and peach, an exotic and persistent palate structure with characters of Miso.
The Grand Vintage 2015, the 17th release of the wine, is a classic expression of the vineyard, vintage and maker. A wine of uncompromising quality enriched by the great complexity of character that follows seven years on tirage. The Grand Vintage accentuates the delicacy and balance of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the pristine cold climate vineyards of Tasmania.
