The Rutherglen Durif 2018 is an intensely rich and concentrated wine. Whilst young it is best to decant or aerate for an hour or so to let the wine breathe. Delicious to enjoy with full flavoured char grilled meats, or cellar for up to 10 years, when an aged rib eye will be more than suitable.

I discovered this wine some five years ago, and now specifically search for it to accompany a variety of traditional, Christmas fare. Good with rich casseroles and game dishes, as well as steak. Definitely a full-bodied red, it is a flavoursome and warming choice for a chilly winter night.
